She Never Stopped Being a Nurse
I spent years working in the NHS across emergency care, acute medicine and nurse-led treatment clinics.
I cared for people when they were frightened, vulnerable and experiencing some of the hardest moments of their lives.
Nursing taught me to listen carefully, look beyond what was immediately visible and treat every person with honesty, compassion and dignity.
When I entered the skincare industry, I was shocked by what I saw.
Instead of being offered clarity, people were being sold confusion - convinced they needed more products, more complicated routines and increasingly expensive treatments.
This, coupled with a lack of regulation, means I have met people who have spent hundreds, sometimes thousands, of pounds trying to improve their skin.
Their bathroom cabinets are overflowing with half-used products, yet they feel no closer to understanding what their skin actually needs.
They blamed themselves when the promises on the adverts and the bottle didn’t come true.
I couldn’t ignore it.
I saw an industry that too often profits from making people feel insecure - and I knew there had to be a more honest and caring way.
I founded The Face Workshop to bring the values that shaped my nursing career into skincare:
1- Listening before recommending
2- Putting people before profit
3- Clinical knowledge before trends.
I may have left the NHS, but I never stopped being a nurse.
